The focus of the piece was on why corporate strategy efforts are often a waste of time and why family owned companies often have indigestion about even discussing ‘strategy,’ as so-often strategy means no longer entrepreneurial /nimble.
I believe there are 3 key dimensions that real strategic work entails – and for family owned companies, it is what they have been doing all along.
