The sprint to Christmas is upon us. The retailers are nervous – and maybe you are too.
So in the spirit of helping, I thought I’d share 5 favorite reads from 2024 that would be good to put under the tree.
Several of these I have highlighted before as they keep resonating with me.
Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection by Charles Duhigg
I keep coming back to this one. Communication is hard and we can all stand to improve. Duhigg dives deep into conversations and how we can be better at them – all the while being entertaining to read. Worth re-reading multiple times
Life Worth Living: A Guide to What Matters Most by Miroslav Wolf
“Based on the Yale class, a guide to defining and then creating a flourishing life, and answering one of life’s most pressing questions: how are we to live?”
Maybe you use the calm of the holidays to contemplate the year ahead. This is a great guide to jumping into deep waters
You do not have to be a fan of football, Tom Brady, or the New England Patriots to enjoy this one. Benedict tells a masterful story of how this dynasty came to be.
The Comfort Crisis: Embrace Discomfort To Reclaim Your Wild, Happy, Healthy Self by Michael Easter
Through the story of an insane, off-grid, backcountry caribou hunt, Easter dives deep into the human body and psyche uncovering how our modern world and its creature comforts conflicts with what we need for health and growth.
The Creative Act by Rick Rubin
Famed music producer Rick Rubin may be a modern day Yoda, and certainly some of the chapters of The Creative Act have a bit of the vibe of the famed jedi master. More than anything though, Rubin is a careful student of the practice of Creativity and how to encourage the artist in us all to move towards more creative mental spaces.
I was originally skeptical of the hype this one has received, but it’s well worth a read.
